Forrest Gump is packed with plenty of subtle symbolism, starting with the feather that floats through the air at the beginning of the film. The film tells a story of human experiences, how we explore them, and how no one really knows what’s coming.
The feather at the beginning is a representation of Forrest Gump’s innocence and how eager he is to achieve something in life. It also reinforces the chocolate quote, wherein no one really knows what the next gust of wind will take them in life.
