One of Hanks’ conditions in agreeing to do the film was that the historical events portrayed in the movie should be as accurate as possible. The film includes a lot of chaotic periods in the history of the US, and many scenes are based on real-life events from the 60s to the early 80s.
Among the scenes that were based on actual events include the ping pong scene, the Vietnam Rally, the Watergate Scandal, and the Black Panther Party. It also includes appearances from some notable figures in history including President John F. Kennedy and Elvis.
