The Iconic Bench
Savannah, Georgia served as the venue for all of the town square scenes in the film. In a lot of scenes, Forrest sat on a bench at Chippewa Square, and that it also where he said the popular line “Life is like a box of chocolates.”
The bench wasn’t originally located at the bus stop in Savannah, Georgia. It was brought in by the film producers for use in the scenes. The bench on which Tom Hanks once sat sold for $25,000 during an auction in 2013.
