Because of the fire, it was difficult for the firefighters and emergency personnel to get to the helicopter, The Los Angeles Times reports. Eyewitnesses shared with TMZ that they heard the helicopter’s engine sputtering before it went down. The cause of the crash is not yet disclosed.
Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, was not among those aboard the chopper, according to the report.
