Sure enough, Trinity was diagnosed with ‘gender dysphoria’ after which her mother fully accepted her as a girl and even bought her a pink dress to commemorate the day.
“It made me feel so happy . . . And mom said I was crying because of my happiness,” Trinity said.
Since that day, DeShanna has been fighting for daughter. She spent a decade trying to explain to family members, schools, daycare providers, educators, and insurance experts that her daughter is a female and that what’s she’s going through is not a phase.
“It wasn’t right for me in that body,” Trinity said. “It felt awful, I wasn’t even happy. I was always sad and angry.”
