Russia takes 5th place and with good reason as they have to protect an unbelievable 37,653 km (23,396 miles) worth of shoreline. Known to be a country that boasts a somewhat intimidating army (complete with nuclear technology), no other nation would dare provoke Russia to military action.
The Russian Navy receives a total defense budget of $47 billion from its government. Thanks to this allotment, they have over 352 naval assets with 78 corvettes, 13 destroyers, nine frigates, 62 submarines, 41 patrol crafts, 47 mine warfare vessels, and one aircraft carrier.
