Armada Nacional is another name for the Colombian National Navy. This force is tasked with protecting and securing the Colombian borders along the Caribbean and the Pacific Oceans. Surprisingly, Colombia has over 35,086 soldiers on its payroll as of 2013, making them one of the strongest in numbers on this list.
Receiving a $12.1 billion defense budget from the Colombian government, Armada Nacional has accumulated a total of 234 naval assets. The force is equipped with 55 patrol crafts, one corvette, four frigates, and 11 submarines.
