Jane Austen was an English writer whose novels are known for exploring the dependence of women on marriage to secure their economic and social standing. She is also considered the first writer to have grasped the art of chick literature.
Her novels feature women involved in love affairs; however, the author herself seems to have had no time for relationships. She was engaged briefly once, but she changed her mind after just a few hours and broke things off with her partner .
