In its lawsuit, filed in 2016, Parlux accused Jay and his S. Carter Enterprises of failing to properly promote the brand — resulting in the failure of the brand.
The rapper acted quickly and countersued the company — claiming that he had fulfilled his obligations despite numerous missteps from the company – and claimed that the company still owed him a large sum of money.

Parlux, on the other hand, claimed that the cologne’s failure was a result of “Jay-Z not doing social media posts and interviews about the cologne.” They claimed that the sales did not go as expected and that Parlux lost a lot of money on the venture having had constant returns of unsold inventory.
