Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, 32, an anesthetist, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a pregnant woman after he overdosed her with drugs.
The staff had received complaints that Bezerra was giving his patients more than the sanctioned anesthesia which made them suspicious of his intentions.

Some new mothers were so drowsy that they could not even hold their newborn babies. This was strange as pregnant women are not to be fully unconscious during a C-section.
