Andre Harrell was born in Harlem, and raised in the Bronx, New York. He started out as half of the early 80s hip-hop duo Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. But he became famous once he founded Uptown Records, which became one of the most popular hip-hop and R&B labels in the 90s.
He also discovered Sean “Puff Diddy” Combs.
