By  | 0 Comments

Losing weight is never easy, even to celebrities who have fitness trainers, nutritionists, and great exercise equipment at their disposal. It is even more of a struggle for them if they are trying to lose a significant amount of weight for a role. Good thing their hard work usually pays off, maybe not necessarily in terms of a fitter figure in all cases, but they still get compensated one way or the other. Here are some of the most surprising transformations of celebrities that you might not easily recognize them after their massive weight loss.

1. Christian Bale

Christian Bale, best known for his role as the fit and always-ready-to-fight Batman, possibly has the most jaw-dropping transformations of them all. He changes his body willingly for a role, such as how he transformed into a sickly man for “The Fighter” or an overweight con artist in “American Hustle.”

But his transformation for “The Machinist” earned him the record of having the biggest weight loss for any actor for a movie. He dropped 63 pounds off his weight. The journey towards his dramatic transformation wasn’t pretty at all. He hardly ate and exercised excessively until he reached 122 pounds, which is unhealthy and way too light for someone who stands 6 feet tall.

2. Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey was known for his muscles in all the right places. But when he bagged a role in the movie called “Dallas Buyers Club,” he dropped 47 lbs, courtesy of eating only 5oz of fish, one cup of vegetables two times a day. It turned him into a 143-pound 6-foot tall man. Since he could not rely solely on his diet, he exercised a lot and burned 1,800 calories daily. McConaughey remarked that he was really struggling, thinking that he could die. Fortunately, his weight loss efforts paid off in the form of an Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club.”

3. Jonah Hill

Hill has always been known for his heavyset figure, which was why everyone was surprised by his 40-pound weight loss. His nutritionist helped him with his transformation, which made him look years younger. Hill said that his weight loss developed his love for fresh Japanese foods. His slimmer figure (photo on the left) was first shown on his movie with Brad Pitt, the “Moneyball.” But since then, his weight has yo-yo-ed. He gained a lot of weight, as pictured in May 2015 (middle photo), but lost it too, as he was pictured in December 2015 (photo on the right).
