Picking out roles among all the offers that they get is one of the hardest things that a celebrity has to do. Sometimes, their decision might lead them to a movie that hits the jackpot, while others might cause them to be a part of a flop. The actors on this list might have regretted the decision of turning down a role that turned out to be a commercial success.

1. JOHN TRAVOLTA – FORREST GUMP

“Forrest Gump” might not have been the movie that it is if someone else played Tom Hank’s role. However, the role was initially offered to John Travolta. Although Travolta has proven that he has the acting chops to carry the role, it would have been a totally different “Forrest Gump” if he was successfully cast in the first place. Even Travolta himself expressed his regret over turning down the role after the release of the film.

2. TOM HANKS – JERRY MAGUIRE

Tom Hanks may have snatched the Forrest Gump role from Travolta, but he also missed out on a huge role himself. He was rumored to be offered the part of Jerry Maguire by Cameron Crowe, only to turn it down because he was occupied as the director of ”That Thing You Do.” Hanks later said that Tom Cruise was a great alternative and that the movie is perfect as it is with Cruise in the lead role.
